825 Third Place
Seymour Marsh House
Built circa 1870s for Seymour Marsh, who was known for trusses for surgical apparatuses, this Gothic farmhouse is the only one of its kind within the district. The original address was 15 Third Place, before the city redid the numbers to triple digits. In 1900, a small wedding was held here for Councilor John F. Hawkins and Elsie Allen Jobs, daughter of Judge Thomas A. Jobs of Arizona. This house is a great example of modest living before the area became a hub for Victorian living. The roof is lined with double brackets, while the first-floor porch and box bump out have a smaller and curvier bracket. The front door, though thought not to be original, is a lovely glass French door.
