824 Third Place
This unique two-story Second Empire-style house was built circa the 1870s. It is one of the few surviving two-story Second Empire houses in the city of Plainfield. The home features porches that encircle the structure, which help regulate temperature by providing shade during the warmer months and keeping snow away in the winter. Originally, this house operated as a candy shop, where patrons could purchase homemade candies and treats from the back area. Although it was nearly demolished to make way for a small apartment building, it was ultimately preserved due to its location in a historic district. Notably, this house was once owned by television star Evan Michelson, known for the show Oddities.
