Living with History

The Crescent Historic Area was initially developed by philanthropist Job Male, who moved to Plainfield in 1867, and would become the first mayor of the city in 1869. This Historic District is an eclectic residential area dating from the 1870s. Over seventy percent of the dwellings were built within the dates of 1870-1900. This website is part of an effort to feature the 19th-century architecture and design enjoyed to this day. Below are some architectural highlights:
