Crescent Historic District, Plainfield NJ

The Crescent Historic Area was initially developed by philanthropist Job Male, who moved to Plainfield in 1867, and would become the first mayor of the city in 1869.  This Historic District is a cohesive residential area dating from the 1870’s. Over seventy percent of the dwellings were built within the dates of 1880-1900. This website is part of an effort to highlight the 19th century architecture and design enjoyed to this day.
